Welcome
I'm Dr. Octavia Manuel Wright, DNP, PMHNP-BC, AGPCNP-BC
As a double board-certified Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatry and Primary Care, my journey into mental health was deeply personal long before it became professional. I became a mother as a teenager, navigating the overwhelming responsibilities of parenthood while silently struggling with what I later recognized as postpartum depression. Back in 1993, mental health was rarely discussed, and the emotional challenges we faced were often overlooked or misunderstood.
Years later I would come to realize that my oldest son had been living with an anxiety disorder something I didn’t recognize for years, even after becoming a Nurse. It wasn’t until I began treating patients and expanding my expertise in psychiatry that I fully understood how profoundly mental health impacts every stage of life, every family, and every community.
My career began in medical-surgical nursing and evolved into primary care as a Nurse Practitioner. But it was my lived experiences both as a mother and a clinician that led me to pursue additional certification in psychiatry. Today, I specialize in mental health care using a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive approach that meets people where they are.
I believe healing begins with gaining an understanding. In addition to providing compassionate clinical care through Balanced Mental Health & Wellness, I offer consulting and educational services to individuals and organizations through mental health training, workshops, and outreach. Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, or the unique stresses of parenthood, I bring both professional expertise and real-life insight to support your journey toward wellness.
